Mission Title: "Operation Marathon"

Patriot and 2 other ships were assigned to be the diversion for Operation Marathon. Patriot would fly in under high secrecy, destroy a number of communications and observational arrays both orbital and ground based facilities, causing a realignment of Dominion forces so other units could move in and deal a desicive strike, capturing 3 key systems from the Dominion.

Patriots entire mission was to take place from start to finish in an elapsed time of 11 minutes. Time was divided up to be spent between each array, and whether destroyed or not Patriot had to move to the next when elapsed time had expired.

Array Alpha was an spacial facility, and was able to be attacked from shipboard weapons. While the two escort ships held off the Dominion attack ships, Patriot opened fire ont he array. With seconds to spare before the next jump, the array was demolished.

The second Array was a subterrainian facility requiring ground troops. Patriot weakened the shields and beamed Marines into the facility. While the Marines were fighting a stalemate battle on the array Patriot and her escorts picked off the ships covering the array. When a delay occured in the destruction on the second array, I ordered the Patriot to leave us behind, as was per mission operational orders.

The third array was more heavily defended than the others. Patriot weakened it as much as possible and deployed the fighter craft and Counterstrike to finish it off. Instead of going onto Array 4, Patriot went to 5, towed by its escorts through the transwarp tunnel to the array.

The opening shot punched a hole throuhg the shields. It was enough to transport the remaining Marines and Intel Officer to the array to effect a ground attack. Meanwhile back on array 2, the Marines had succeeded in eliminating the Dominion soldiers, and placed charges on the facility. They stole a damaged Dominion attack ship which was housed in the base's hangar, and blew up the array. They set a course for the 3rd array attempting to catch up to the Patriot.

The attack ship assisted the fighters at the third array, disposing of the array and dominion forces. Even though time was running out, and Patriot was too slow at the 5th array, long range communications had been cut off by a lucky shot from one of the escorts, and the mission was still salvagable. Patriot jumped back to the 4th array to complete the mission while ground forces were still working on the 5th.

The attack ship jumped to the 5th array, beamed down several reinforcements to aid the floundering forces on the ground, then proceeded to aid the patriot at the 4th array. When the 4th array was destroyed at the cost of both of Patriot's escorts, Patriot set course for Gateway Outpost in Federation Space. The Dominion attack ship we captured retrieved the Marines on the destroyed 5th array, and returned to Gateway alongside Patriot. Marathon was a success, if only just barely.
