Mission Title: "Q you hear what i hear"

It was a normal day at the station, well normal as in during wartime that is. The usual day to day activities as well as dealing with the numerous casualty reports that poured in from all over the warfront made everyone feel somber. But we never expected strange events to be occurring throughout the station, all of which related to Christmas.

According to multiple reports, people were getting turned into reindeers, carolers were appearing out of think air, store fronts were turning into gingerbread, a giant mistletoe plant in the promenade and so on. I did not believe any of this at first as the events sounded so bizarre and something out of a Christmas tale until Lt. Crichton came to Ops, reporting Engineering had been converted into a toy factory.

It was not long before we discovered the culprit behind the changes, when a Q showed up in Operations, openly admitting he was responsible for causing all this commotion. As per regulations, unless there was something a Q wanted from us, we were supposed to ignore him or her until he or she got bored and went away. Well it so happened, this particular Q did have a purpose for his visit to the GATEWAY. He claimed the continuum wanted to learn and understand more about Christmas and so sent him here on their behalf. He made the changes to grab our attention and as he put it, get us into the spirit of the holiday.

Q gave us three hours to figure out a way to deliver him a Christmas. He warned us if we didn’t do as he wanted, then he was going to create a Christmas himself, which meant running amok in the station, which was a big problem for us. As a show of good faith or so he claimed, Q reversed all his changes to the station and its population. However he wasn’t done making further mischief.

Q brought Commander Peter Aspinall from the USS STONEHENGE…at least the man Q had materialized in Daisy’s quarters whose DNA matched that of Commander Aspinall. When Lt. Crichton and Xana Bonviva were visiting the daycare center to see Xana’s daughter, Dahlia, Q appeared there and transformed Crichton into a green, furry being and changed Xana’s appearance. He also gifted Dahlia a baby targ. Then Q dragged me to the Daycare center and then turned me into a reindeer. I had no recollection of my time as a reindeer. The above incidents were just a few out of the many on the station.

A senior staff was convened minus me, since I was still a reindeer at the time. Commander Davidson decided to show Q what Christmas meant to many of us by having him experience our Christmas pasts, presents and futures using his powers. Of course Q arrived in the meeting, uninvited and transported everyone in the room except Col. Williams to the space outside the station. Even though I wasn’t there, I could imagine the fear and annoyance of Q making my fellow crewmates float in space, not that they were in any danger at all. To make matters worse, Q turned Crichton into a bowl of peanuts because he didn’t approve him speaking. Daisy informed him her decision and Q accepted the proposal on one condition - he *decided* who would show him their Christmas and where and when he would take them to. The meeting was over when Q returned everyone back to the conference room.

Q continued to do his mischief and one of them was making Lt. Varn vanish.

Commander Davidson handed command of the station to Q in exchange for returning me back to my original form and bringing Varn back from wherever Q made him disappear to. After both Varn and I were restored in Davidson’s Ready room, Q didn’t just end his usual trouble making there. He bound Varn with red ribbon and stuck an adhesive gift tag that said ‘Do not open until Christmas’ over my mouth. Varn managed to free himself, while I had to wash away the tag with lots of water. And by the time either of us could do anything, Q had sent our Commander, her family and Dr. Foster away from the station. Where they were sent to, no one knew, which only made the situation worse.

Q did get his wish in regards to experiencing Christmas by choosing Lt. Crichton, Xana Bonviva, Lt. Varn and Lt. JG Kyle Calhoun from the USS ABURAMUSHI. I heard Q gave Lt. Calhoun a very nice Christmas present, which he only could enjoy till midnight Christmas day.

Of course he was also amusing himself with his pranks. While Xana and I were at Wendia’s Wedding Emporium making preparations for my upcoming wedding to Dr. Poe, Q showed up much to our annoyance. He changed both our attires to those uncomfortable wedding outfits adorned by Terran fairytale princesses and we got bounced to the USS COMMENDATION and to the station’s arboretum, where we hung from a tree like ornaments. We were brought down to our relief by Lt. Varn. Xana and I both eventually gotten rid of those awful dresses.

Starfleet Command in lieu of Commander Davidson’s disappearance immediately assigned Captain Sophie Lovelace as our temporary CO. Captain Lovelace, upon arrival, made sweeping changes including increasing security in all public areas and enforcing a curfew.

During a station-wide announcement made by Captain Lovelace, Q appeared in Ops to tell me he had made a decision. In an instant, I, Dr. Poe, Lt. Crichton, Xana, Lt. Cmdr. Drake, Lt. Varn, Col. Williams, CWO Halcyon, Lt. JG Calhoun, the freelance reporter, Alex Nikitin and Trisha Giddons from the Angel’s Angst found ourselves standing on the highest tier of the promenade, which overlooked a breathtaking view of everything below. Q appeared in front of us and after saying a few words about how he found Christmas boring, he left in a flash.
