Mission Title: "The Body Shop"

Starfleet Command gave us orders to investigate reports of a Dominion super soldier program, assess the threat they posed and neutralize it. According to the information SFC provided, the super soldiers were created using sophisticated and advanced gene sequencing and splicing techniques beyond even the Dominion’s standards, which was very disturbing. We suspected at the time whether they got access to a planet containing information that allowed them to add to their own knowledge of the cloning process or someone with extensive genetics knowledge was assisting them. The cloning process involved using Jem’Hadar DNA and combining them with DNA from other species that resulted in the creations becoming faster, more aggressive and stronger than the average Jem’Hadar soldier- to put it simply, they were monsters. The techniques used to create these super soldiers were similar to those responsible for radically altering Lieutenant Thomas Varn’s genetic code that made him gain Avian characteristics.

We set off in the USS CHANTICO to our first destination in Dominion territory, an M-class planet called PRILARIUS III. A small compound in the Eastern hemisphere, which we believed contained the cloning laboratories, was detected on our sensors. No Dominion lifesigns were picked up by the sensors but that didn’t mean there weren’t any dangerous lifeforms on the planet. An away team comprising of Commander Davidson, myself, Lt. Varn, Lt. Crichton, Lt. Cmdr. Drake, CWO Halcyon, F. Col. Williams and a group of marines were dispatched in two runabouts to the planet.

The shuttles landed in a clearing in the middle of a dense forest, which stood between our landing site and the compound. Leaving a squad of marines behind to guard the shuttles, the rest of us set out on a difficult trek through the thick rainforest to the compound. After reaching our destination, we discovered the place was deserted. We decided to explore the base, hoping to gather crucial information that would help us in the mission. During our investigation, we found to our horrors, dead bodies of Vorta and Jem’Hadar, murdered savagely. Lt. Cmdr. Drake obtained the coordinates of the main cloning base, which we later discovered to our misfortune the information was false. We decided to leave the planet immediately. Unfortunately, while we were departing, we encountered a few of those genetic creations resembling reptilian predators and flying gorillas. Luckily the CHANTICO was able to beam all of us out before the monstrosities could cause any harm.

Unfortunately it was only after reaching the coordinates that we soon found out the enemy had laid a trap for us. Soon after reaching our destination, the CHANTICO was ambushed by Dominion battle cruisers. The battle was short, resulting in the destruction of the CHANTICO with the majority of the crew lost. The survivors were captured by the Dominion and imprisoned at one of their prison camps.

In the detention complex, or at least that’s what it was at the time, the survivors were separated. Commander Davidson, Lt. Varn and I ended up in an infirmary. Davidson and I were forced to act as nurses for the wounded, while Varn was drugged and restrained to a biobed and left malnourished. Drake, Williams, Crichton, Halcyon, Dr. Cade Foster and other CHANTICO survivors were put in an underground prison cell, though Halcyon escaped by pretending to be dead.

Halcyon was left out in the wilderness, where she ran into Dr. Poe and the two ended up fighting for survival, dealing with adversities such as Jem’Hadar soldiers hunting them down for sport and the super soldiers. They had reached a space port and managed to blow up the fuel silos there.

Drake and his group managed to break out of the prison cell and ended up at the infirmary, where chaos ensued when Varn freed himself from his restraints and tackled the Jem’Hadar. It was then he faced the Cairon doctor that radically altered his genetic code- Dr. Asul. Commander Davidson disappeared from the room in feline form.

As Varn confronted the doctor, our surroundings suddenly changed from a detention complex to abandoned city ruins at night. All personnel barring Drake and Varn were in the necropolis. We were separated at first with myself, Dr. Poe , Halcyon, Williams and his men in one part of the city; Lt. Crichton and Dr. Foster in another; Davidson in an empty, worn down building, where she tended to a Dominion prisoner, Dr. Li Kon Fa, a former crewmate of hers from the USS CENTURY, who was gravely ill. After having to fend off a few of Asul’s beasts, we all reunited at the building where Davidson and Dr. Li were. Some of us were sent out to gather any food and during that time, a holoprojector was discovered, which made us suspect we could be in a holoprogram. We even wondered if the dead city itself was a program.

We didn’t get a chance to investigate the matter further, when a large number of those monsters sensed our presence in the building and headed towards us as in their minds, we were food. We went to one of the rooms and barricaded ourselves in the hopes of biding our time till the beasts lost interest. Sadly we were never that lucky- as the monsters weren’t going away until they captured us. But luck did eventually come our way, when the creatures suddenly ignored us and left.

We were baffled as to what had happened and had the feeling that someone just programmed them to change their minds. But we never got the chance to find out, when the city came crashing down on us. We needed to escape, which was made even more difficult when we had to fight off both Jem’Hadar troops and Asul’s genetic creations.

During our escape we had run into a Founder. A plan was conceived, which involved Halcyon distracting the changeling, in order to allow Colonel Williams and the rest of us time to prepare ourselves. Williams and his team successfully eliminated the changeling however the skirmish with the Founder resulted in Halcyon sustaining severe injuries to her abdomen and was badly in need of surgery.

Crichton found a communication device and after getting it to work, he sent out a SOS, which was received by the USS APPARITION. Most of us were beamed onboard except Lt. Cmdr. Drake and Lt. Varn.

After coming onboard the APPARITION, surgery was immediately performed on Halcyon by me, Dr. Poe and Dr. Foster. Surgery was successful and CWO Halcyon would recover from her injuries but needed to be in sickbay for a while longer to recuperate.

A rescue team led by Col. Williams was immediately dispatched. While Drake was recovered, Williams was captured. Varn was not found. Both Williams and Varn were taken away by Asul in his ship to the main cloning facility.

We soon found out that the APPARITION embarked on a mission on their own accord to search for the CHANTICO’s blackbox. Apparently Starfleet Command had declared all hands were lost upon the CHANTICO’s destruction and did not deem it necessary to launch any search and rescue or recovery missions. Captain Aaron Williams of the USS VANGUARD had been assigned command of the GATEWAY at the time.

The APPARITION had obtained coordinates of our location through interrogation of a Jem’Hadar prisoner, captured during a battle with a Dominion attack cruiser at the site of the CHANTICO’s destruction.

Apparently, the CHANTICO survivors were held prisoners on a dying planet, whose core was exposed to the space. The planet’s defense system was extremely powerful, which made life difficult for the APPARITION crew. Even though the defense mechanism was neutralized, the ship was badly damaged from a brutal battle with it and the Dominion forces that protected the planet. As a result of the defense system’s removal, the planet became unstable and was destroyed.

During his captivity, Drake had obtained data regarding the location of the main cloning base, where we all figured Varn and Williams were taken there. With this knowledge at hand, the APPARITION had immediately jumped to warp and headed to a safer location, where the ship would have the chance to make some necessary repairs before moving onto the cloning base. Captain Lawrence also decided to separate the ship, with all civilians, children and other non-essential personnel sent in the saucer section to the 2nd planet in a binary star system nearby, while the battle section would move forward to the location of the base headquarters.

Plans were underway in regards to launching an offensive against the cloning facility, located in a space station and recovering Varn and Williams in what was dubbed a suicide mission where the odds were heavily stacked against us. Fortunately, our chances of success in this mission had improved by tenfold when help arrived in the form of the USS ONEIROI and the USS PENDRAGON.

The battle plan was drawn up as followed. The APPARITION was primarily charged with recovering the two officers, while the ONEIROI and the PENDRAGON had to continuously attack the base in order to lower the station’s shields to the point where it would allow for better penetration of the hull by weapons fire as well as being able to transport Varn and Williams to the APPARITION.

The operation wasn’t going well as planned as the station’s shields were proving to be very difficult to penetrate and the enemy fighters outnumbered us greatly. It was then decided to send out an EMP discharge through the station systems that would completely shut them down, giving us enough time to beam Varn and Williams out. It was our only hope of success. We only had one shot with the EMP detonation and the systems would only be off-line for a minute. Our time was also limited as sensors detected enemy reinforcements were on their way and would reach our position within the minute.

The APPARITION had to get close to the station in order to effectively implement its plan. Once we were in position, the EMP beam was sent out and successfully rendered the station’s systems offline. Immediately we transported Varn and Williams directly to APPARITION’s sickbay.

Lt Varn was found to be traumatized physically and mentally at the time. Medical reports indicated he was involved in brutal skirmishes during his captivity there and we also found Asul himself was dead.

After the two officers were recovered, the ONEIROI and the PENDRAGON targeted all critical areas of the station and launched a barrage of quantum torpedoes, resulting in the complete destruction of the facility. All three ships jumped to warp before the shockwave resulting from the explosion reached them.

The APPARITION stopped by the binary system and collected its saucer section on her way back to the GATEWAY. After a grueling time at the death camp, all of us were happy and relieved to be safely home with our loved ones.
