Mission Title: "Trick or Treat"
Mission Start Date: 2.80822
Mission End Date: 2.80929

A Jem’Hadar attack ship appeared in the station’s vicinity, carrying a Vorta and other travelling companions. The Vorta who called himself Melin requested asylum in exchange for providing advanced technology created by a race that lived a million years ago. In 2420, an archaeological expedition was sent to a deserted world in the Gamma Quadrant to unearth ruins of an ancient civilization. In 2422, after the closure of the wormhole, Dominion forces captured the planet and transformed it into a prison camp. They continued the excavation in the hopes of coming across a weapon that would turn the war in their favour.

Starfleet Command tasked us to investigate Melin’s claims to decipher whether he was sincere in his request for asylum and not Dominion treachery. Melin had also provided information on the locations of several strategically important Dominion bases.

During investigation of the artifacts, Lt. Jake Crichton got attacked by one of the devices and knocked unconscious. Dr. Grace Poe and Dr. Cade Foster (mirror version) had deduced the signal from the device had taken control of his cerebral cortex.

The situation worsened for the station on two fronts. One of the artifacts disappeared from the science lab and reappeared in the promenade, which led to a wide-spread panic amongst the civilian population. A large chunk of the population- Starfleet and civilian alike had fallen unconscious and had to be transported to sickbay.

At the same time, Dominion forces from ANDARA had launched an offensive against the station. The station along with the sixth fleet had engaged the enemy.

During the battle, Commander Davidson returned back to the station with her family, former station CO Xana Bonviva and her daughter. Her Warhammer runabout was attacked by Dominion forces and was destroyed on impact with the station walls. The shuttle travelers were transported to sickbay prior to its destruction.

Lt. Varn devised a plan to distract the Dominion forces, in order to allow our fleet to deal some critical hits to the enemy. He had attached holoemitters on five of our WARHAMMER runabouts, USS LOKI, USS GEB, USS HIS-HANG-MU, USS DAVLIN and USS IZANAKI. Varn himself led the mission in the LOKI. The purpose was to mask the runabouts’ true appearance as they attacked the lead enemy ships. The plan involved coordinating with the USS APPARITION, which deployed its sensor blackout device. The CHANTICO was also deployed with Ensign Vol in command.

The plan was successful and enabled the fleet to push back the Dominion forces, but unfortunately all five runabouts were destroyed. Lt. Varn was transported to the CHANTICO just prior to the destruction of the LOKI. The battle was a success at our end as we drove the enemy back to their own territory.

While the battle was over, the problems caused by the artifact was still at large. Cmdr. Davidson and Dr. Foster came up with a way to gain controlled access to Lt. Crichton’s mind to find out how the alien technology worked enough to reverse his and the other comatose patients’ conditions. The plan required a volunteer to be placed in a tank filled with neuro-amniotic fluid that would increase the odds of a shared dream state between Crichton and the other person. Xana Bonviva volunteered to undertake the task.

The situation became further complicated. The comatose patients woke up but found themselves to be sharing their bodies with another alien consciousness. The problem was station-wide as many others were invaded by consciousnesses not their own. The station was immediately placed under quarantine.

We soon found out that the soul inhabiting Lt. Crichton was Thoralas, the leader of a race called the Durali, the same one the archaeological expedition was investigating. Thoralas explained the Durali had decided to store their consciousnesses in stasis, basically in another realm known as the abyss, when cataclysms threatened to destroy their civilization a million years ago.

Unfortunately Thoralas had gone mad from spending eons in the abyss and wasn’t ready to let go of Crichton. A struggle ensued between the consciousnesses of Xana, Crichton and the Durali leader, with Crichton managing to drive Thoralas out of his mind.

We did reach a solution to the Durali crisis. Colonel Williams mentioned the location of a small Dominion cloning facility and it was then decided that the Durali consciousnesses would be transferred to clones generated in those laboratories.

An SFMC operation to seize the facility was planned and led by Col. Williams. Commander Davidson, Lieutenant Varn and Ensign Stormfeather, a member of the science department joined the expedition due to their expertise in genetics and cloning technology. The mission was successful and the Durali were able to transfer their consciousnesses to their new bodies.
