Stardate 2.80728
Station Log
Filed By: Lt Cdr Kathryn MacNeil MD, Executive Officer
Mission Title: "Operation Liberation"
Mission Start Date: 2.80404
Mission End Date: 2.80512
A day after returning from ANDARA, we had been assigned to partake in a mission that would take us deep into Dominion territory. According to intelligence reports, Commander Davidson and Lt. Cmdr. Drake were held captive in a prison camp on a planet in Dominion controlled space. Evidence of cloning was also found at the facility, which proved the ‘Commander Davidson’ in the news broadcast defecting to the Dominion was false. We soon discovered that it was a clone the Dominion used in that newsfeed.
A taskforce led by the USS COMMENDATION and also comprising of USS CHANTICO, USS HELLESPONT, USS CHIMERA, USS HELLE, USS DARDINELLE and USS ATHMUS participated in the operation. The entire 13th marine regiment had been assigned to the mission. The objective of the mission was to infiltrate the facility and liberate the prisoners.
The operation was a success with a modest casualty rate. All ships returned safely back to the GATEWAY. However Commander Davidson was found in serious medical condition. Poe’s examination revealed she was injected with Borg nannites. We discovered that the Commander had actually died but was later resurrected using Borg technology by Lt. Cmdr. Drake.
Upon our return, we were met with a very delicate situation. A series of sabotages to the station had led to the declaration of martial law by Major Alexander Towers . To make matters worse, quarantine was instated, preventing anyone from entering of leaving the station. Lt. Cmdr. Eishnala Kor and the rest of the senior staff had eventually managed to regain control of the station with minimal difficulties. The martial law and the quarantine were lifted and life on the station returned to normal.
Captain Anaqueen Spankryz was immediately placed in temporary command of the station until Cmdr. Davidson’s recovery was complete.
The marines had apprehended a civilian toy seller, Zel Rohan due to having caught him unconscious at the scene of the crime and briefly treated him as a suspect. Evidence brought by Mr. Anthony Giles, owner of the ‘The Animal Library’ cleared Mr. Zel of the charges. Apparently the saboteur had tried to frame him.
Major Towers was demoted to ExO of the station’s marine contingent for his mishandling of the situation. Brigadier Yates pulled Field Colonel Hunter Williams out of retirement and placed him in charge of the marines here.
The saboteur was eventually captured and identified as Moorit, a chameloid.
Around that time, Lt. Jake Crichton was recalled back to EARTH for personal reasons.
The bungling by the marines of the handling of the sabotages had resulted in complaints sent by hundreds of civilians, captains of various trade vessels and the press corps particularly Fedcom taking advantage of the chaos for their own purposes. FedCom conducted a vicious crusade against Cmdr. Davidson and Lt. JG Thomas Varn. The news agency accused the two officers of suffering from ‘Dominion War Syndrome’, a fictitious medical condition. One such incident involved a Fedcom reporter physically assaulting Dr. Grace Poe, which resulted in Cmdr. Davidson punching him. The reporter was arrested. Suffice to say, as Fedcom attempted to distort the events for their own agenda, we were fortunate that Federation News Service cleared everything up by broadcasting the unaltered footage of the entire incident.
Commander Davidson had completed her recovery and returned back to active duty. We also received a new Fighter Squadron Commander, Lt. Cochrane Stephens.
