ROMULAN STAR EMPIRE

The Romulan Star Empire managed to rework their expansionistic drive for it to be in synch with the Federation. This major policy shift allowed the Romulans to become members of the Federation. Though they feigned maximum participation in the war against the Kem D'Neel, the Star Empire had secretly begun building up its forces, the purpose of which remains unknown even to this day.

When the Locusta Regime contacted the Romulans in 2413, they convinced them, and their Vulcan brethren, that the Federation would be the catalyst that would eventually destroy their dimension. Xenophobic fear once again took hold and they seceded from the Federation along with a very reluctant Vulcan people.

Desperate to acquire Letridium ore to be used to help the Locusta cross over into our universe, the Romulans initiated the war by attacking the Vegan system, the seventh race to enter the Federation when it was formed. Their attack force utilized the new Remus-class battleships, the largest vessels to date (not counting Borg Cubes). They decimated Starfleet's Fourth Fleet, much to the shock of Starfleet Command.

After obtaining as much of the ore as they could, the Romulans were beaten back by the newly formed Klingon Empire, allowing Starfleet to lick its wounds. Shortly after that it was learned that the Locusta Regime had undergone a massive civil war, leaving the Romulans to fend for themselves. Now in a war with the Federation and the Klingons, the Romulan Star Empire is attempting to find some exit strategy while maintaining their assets and honor.

The Romulans are currently ruled by a Praetor, whose name has not yet been established. The typical rank for an officer Sub-Commander. The standard uniform of Romulan officers are the high shouldered uniforms with reflective, patterned material. The Romulan crest is featured prominently on a decorative sash. Recent additions to this age old uniform are highlights and rank pins of emerald color.
