CURRENT INTELLIGENCE ANDARA is the planet that is closest to Gateway Station. The planet appears to have virtually no defenses, clearly relying on the GATEWAY STATION for protection. And in fact, the entire society is based mostly on mutual understanding and common interests. The population is concentrated on the eastern hemisphere, where the people live in low earthen structures seldom exceeding two floors. Around populated areas, there are wide-open plains used for farming and other agricultural endeavors. Hills are few and far between, providing nothing but a welcome distraction to the gazing eye. The Andarans have no religion to speak of. The former beliefs had been abandoned many years ago in favor of concentrating on science and agriculture. The populations' interest center mostly around Physics and Chemistry, and only a few direct their attention towards Biology. The Prime Minister resides in the capital city, as head of the Andaran council. And that, in turn, consist of one representative from each of the planet's provinces, meeting once a month via intra-planetary communication devices to discuss the past, present and the future. They then spread updates of information on laws and society norms via counselors to their respective sub-populations. In addition to the Prime Minister, there is a Minister of Culture and Philosophy. Although this Minister has no weight in making decisions in government, he/she is appointed by the Andaran council and does report directly to the Prime Minister on the state of Andaran society and culture. Some view the residents of ANDARA as xenophobic or just simply religious zealots - in truth they are neither - at least not in the extreme. While it is true that they aren't fond of what they call "off-landers". It is also true, they are very dedicated to their own way of life - but they have neither the drive nor will to be xenophobic or go towards philosophic zealotry. They have been called cautious, and perhaps fearful, of new things. Physically speaking, Andarans resemble Humans and have no known telepathic abilities. They are all very tall and very thin; with an estimate of 1.70m for a 10 year-old Andaran and with adults above the age of 30 of between 2.30 and 2.60m, they could in general be considered somewhat gigantic. Andarans have a very fair skin and almost white hair that is kept long and straight for both males and females. The radiation from the nearby sun does not, however, appear to cause problems, in spite of the clear lack of pigment among the population. They have small, dark eyes, and large ears embedded in the skull on either side of the head, and a long nose in the centre of it all. Customary clothing follow very much the general appearance as well, with fitted body suits in similar light colours. The Prime Minister wears some sort of a see-through gown on top, indicating position. This is also true for all government officials; they wear see-through gowns to signify their work.
