| GENERAL NOTES the mark-4 Swiften class was a result of decades of starship development and research. With the successfult first production run of the Sovereign class, Starfleet ordered the firast production run of the Mark-4 swiften, using many of the same components as the new Heavy Cruiser. This class had 25 ships built, beginning with USS Swiften, NCC-1300-C in 2380. Over the next 10 years, the production run was completed. When transwarp technology became widely available to Federation starships, the Swiften class found itself outmatched. They were pulled from line service as the Mark-5 was already on the drawing board, and delegated to a reserve tactical unit, to be used in case of hostilities with another alpha quadrant power. Word of Note: there are currently 5 Swiften class ships in the fleet museum. 1 for each generation. The ship chosen for the Mark 4 series was USS Acreman NCC-1325, which was prematurely retired upon the advent of Transwarp. USS Swiften was destroyed with minimal casualties at the hands f the P'Nora, a marauder race that was passing through our galaxy in 2405. -- |
