SWIFTEN-CLASS Fast Destroyer Mark-3
Technical Specifications, Revision 01

| GENERAL NOTES Swiften Class design contains outstanding phaser power in a compact vessel. Its twin nacells share the stress of warp speed between the two, while creating a warp field that reaches far forward than that of any similar class. This has the effect of allowing the ship to slip through space at a faster rate of speed for longer durations that its more ample sister ships like Excelsior. The ship uses the design of the refit Excelsior as the additional Impulse reactors provides more power to channel to the weapons array while not sacrificing maneuverability. While warp speeds are only slightly increased over her larger counterpart, at impulse speeds Swiften can out-maneuver anything that the Klingons or Romulans have in their fleets. The ship is capable of performing a saucer seperation in event of a catastrophic failure allowing the crew to survive even a warp core breach. All mark 3 Swiften Class starships were removed from service as the mark-4 was being built. As this class has a limited civilian role, very few of them or the previous generations have found their way into merchant fleets. In fact Starfleet restricts the sale of these ships, limiting them to private companies who are security rated to operate such vessels. With these restrictions in place, the main weapons arrays are left intact, with only the twin Disruptors and the torpedo launchers being removed prior to sale. Word of Note: there are currently 5 Swiften class ships in the fleet museum. 1 for each generation. The ship chosen for the Mark 3 series was USS Swiften NCC-1300-B, which was rebuilt after the battle of Wolf-359. -- |
