GENERAL NOTES

In 2419 Starfleet revitalized the Interceptor concept (the last class of Interceptor being decomissioned some 50 years ago) Into a modern warship. Originally, the Constelation Class was supposed to be an Interceptor, but design flaws prevented the class from living to its potential, and instead they were used as a light explorer. Stargazer Class was designed specifically for this role, using larger class components within a moderate sized hull. Relieved of the bulk of a secondary Hull, and with the 4 nacelle design, Stargazer Class can maintain extreme high warp speeds almost indefinately. The design rotates the speed stress between nacelle pairs doubling the amount of time the ship can maintain maximum warp. As two nacells become heated, the warp field is phased onto the alternate pair to let the primary nacells a chance to shutdown. This also has the benefit of making it difficult for a enemy combatant to knock out the warp drive. Stargazer can achieve Warp velocities even if 3 of her 4 nacells are inoperative.
