NEW ORLEANS-CLASS Battle Frigate

Technical Specifications, Revision 01
Starfleet Corps of Engineering - Archive File

GENERAL NOTES

New Orleans class was designed to be the next generation of combat starship. With power systems that rival the Galaxy class and just under 70% of the overall size New Orleans packs alot of power for a smaller ship. Very combat worthy, NEW Orleans served well through the first Cardassian War, and defended the federation during the first Borg incursion. The ships were modified several times over their service life, and modified to incorporate Quantum torpedoes and ablative armor in their weapons systems. They saw heavy action during the Dominion war, and again in subsequent engagements. Of the original 40 Ships, 25 remain in Active Standby, assigned to 1 of the two reserve tactical wings within the Federation. A skeleton crew is assigned to each, just to maintain the vessels so they could be used at a moments notice if needed. The ease of the incorporation of Transwarp drive was the sole reason the Akira class was chosen to remain in the fleet ranks over the New Orleans.
