GENERAL NOTES

With the Intrepid Class nearing the end of its usable life, Starfleet ordered the development of a new Scout Type Cruiser, capable of exploring the unknown, while defending itself from a hostile species. Unlike the Oberth class, and then the Nova class, Insignia is designed to defend itself in cases where help might be days or even weeks away. With multiple phaser arrays covering every concievable firing arc, along with forward and aft torpedo launchers, Insignia class is well able to hold her own.

The tactical capabilities of Insignia should not be overshadowed by her exploration abilities. A Scout Cruiser must be capable of extensive research in multiple environments. With the ships on board sensors, its ability to land, and multiple shuttle bays,Insignia will prove that she is up to the task she was designed for and broaden the understanding of science.
