| GENERAL NOTES 2330 USS Ambassador Commissioned as frontline replacement to aging Excelsior class 2355 Final Ambassador Class commissioned into service 2375 Noting failures in lifespan, and lessened role with the advent of the Galaxy class, as well as its less comfortable accommodations, Starfleet began retiring the class. 2390 Final Ambassador Class retired from service. Of the original fleet of 25, 5 remaining ships survive 2418 In conjuncture with the new troop transports and colonial support vessels, Starfleet saw a need for a purely diplomatic vessel, and commissioned a study to develop a new class of ship. 2419 As with the transport and the colonial support, it was decided that building a new ship class from the keel up was not fiscally feasible. 2421 As with the Excelsior class redevelopment project, Starfleet Engineering also made use of the 5 retired Ambassador Class ships to fill the role that their name suggests; A diplomatic vessel capable of carrying federation diplomatic officers around the Federation and beyond, while providing decent security. 2422 USS Ambassador and her 5 sister ships were completed and assigned to positions within the fleet, thus freeing up more combat ready vessels to serve in different roles. -- | BASIC INFORMATION Class: Ambassador Number in Service: 4 Class Listing: VESSEL COMPLEMENT (STANDARD) Total: 600 PROPULSION SYSTEMS Impulse Propulsion System (IPS): Warp Propulsion System (WPS): Warp Speeds: Transwarp Speeds : TACTICAL SYSTEMS Phaser Systems: Quantum Torpedo Systems: Deflector Shield Systems: Bio-regenerative Hull Matrix: OTHER SYSTEMS Transporters: Holodecks: Computers: Shuttlebays: Embarked Craft (standard): |
