GENERAL NOTES

Originally built in the early to mid 23rd century, Akula class followed alot of the same design and equipment advances as both the Constitution Class and the Miranda class. The ship utelized similar layouts as both classes, but in a smaller more compact scale. on an Akula, there were no science officers, no research facilities, and very limited recreation areas. This ship, reffered to as the Defiant class of its day, was built purely for combat and venturing into hostile areas.

The Akula class was originally slated to be decommissioned in the late 24th century, but conflicts between the Cardassians, the Romulans, the Klingons, Dominion and Borg, they were pressed into continued service. While the more larger modern capital ships were fighting on the front lines, the Akula class was delegated to patrolling the borders where the fighting was minimal. In 2400, all remaining Akula class ships were taken from active service, and placed in Reserve, where if they were available if needed again.
