This experiment was done with my 8th grade Pre-Algebra class, as it fit nicely with our standard course of study objective that students should be able to measure objects indirectly. We had to measure on Friday March 19, at around 12:35, so about 25 hours before midday on the equinox, but our results were still reasonably close, all things considered.
